Repair Aluminium Sliding Windows
Sliding door rollers

Install new rollers for your sliding aluminium Windows Step by Step

The main thing to repair on an aluminium sliding window is the rollers on the bottom of the window. Sometimes these rollers wear out or wear a flat spot on them and need to be replaced.

Your local hardware has a range of replacement wheels and wheel carriages to suit your window. When you remove your window take out one of the rollers and take it down to your local hardware to compare and purchase the same type.

To repair the rollerswindow rollers

Step one: Remove the window:

To remove the window, open half way and then grab the window on each side of the sliding window. Then lift the window up off the track and dive out the bottom of the window and then carefully remove the window.

Step two: Remove the rollers:

Turn the window upside down and unscrew the rollers from the window frame. Take these to your local hardware and purchase the same type.

Step three: Install:

Install the new rollers and then check the track. Take the opportunity to clean window track the track and remove any rough aluminium with sand paper. Do not oil the track as this will attract dust and cause the wheels to slide without turning which will wear a flat spot on the wheels.

Step four: Refit the window:

Refit the window and check the sliding motion to make sure that it is working correctly, job done!
